WSPA Logo
The WSPA Logo is well recognised among many today, but how often do we consider what it actually is. After a rather vague answer from the Australia branch, which had said it can represent claw marks or animal markings, I made a phone call to the New Zealand branch. they also however said it could mean animal markings, but could not say so with certainty. I thought to get the best answer would be to call the headquarters in the United Kingdom. However, they too stated that it represents claw marks and conveys animal connotations. The use of bright Orange was done out of its eye-catching properties, but the thoughts of a tigerwere also present. Now i began getting a clearer picture. Maybe the logo is not meant to directly represent something. As long as it conveys the values or ties the company has with its work, then it is quite effective. For instance, although logo didn’t represent anything specific, such as a tiger or claw marks, it conveyed that this organisation dealt with animals and set the mood with animal profiled markings. This in effect led many to their own conclusions as to what those markings were: tiger stripes, claw marks, or zebra stripes.
For these reasons the logo can be quite effective as it engages the audience with the brand. They are able to communicate with the brand and develop their own relationship with it that helps to define how they see their logo.
